Book Review: P.H.I.S.H Change your life.

January 22nd, 2009

This week’s book review is of P.H.I.S.H.: Change your life. Learn the ten steps to feeling joy at all times. by Linda Padgurskis.  phishbook

Book Rating:4stars

P.H.I.S.H is an acronym for Prosperity, Harmony, Inner peace, Safety, Health and this book provides the reader with great insight and suggestions for living each day with joy and happiness.  Linda takes you through 10 easy steps that will help you to begin to turn around the negativity and road blocks that prevent you from feeling empowered over your life.

The first step, which is where the title of the book is taken from, is about setting an intention for your day.  To help you remember it make it into an acronym, for example  P.H.I.S.H or A.P.P.L.E. - for Agreeable, Positive, Productive, Loving, Emphatic.   This makes it fun, easy to remember and you can create reminders for yourself (like an image of an apple) to help you stay on course throughout the day.

Linda also talks about the importance of gratitude, connecting with your Angels and those who help guide us and having faith in the unseen.

I found this book to very insightful and enjoyed reading it very much.  I really liked that it’s not just a how to book, but written from the perspective of “I’ve been there too”.

I recommend adding this to your collection!

Book Review - The Attractor Factor by Joe Vitale

January 16th, 2009

I’ve decided since I’ve been reading so many books lately, that I would start a weekly book review.  My plan is to have one every Thursday(well ok, this is Friday) so here’s my Kick off review.

Book Rating:4stars

The Attractor Factor: 5 Easy Steps for Creating Wealth (or Anything Else) From the Inside Out by Joe Vitale.

The Attractor Factor 2nd Edition

The Attractor Factor 2nd Edition

In short I really enjoyed this book.  Joe has a writing style that is easy to read and absorb, I feel like I’m sitting and talking with a friend.  He makes the concepts presented easy to understand and apply in your life.

This book is very motivating, I find myself feeling pumped up and ready to make the changes and focus on what I want.  In reading it, I think this makes so much sense!

Joe maps out an easy to understand and implement method of HOW to focus on what you want and make it happen.  He also talks about the importance of clearing out the limiting beliefs that can get in the way of achieving your dreams.  This is a point that I think a lot of books miss.

Joe writes with a lot of honesty and openness,  you know he’s “been there too”. He shares his own experiences and what he has learned from them, and also really encourages you to think beyond your current circumstances.

Bottomline: I highly reccommend this book to anyone who really wants to make changes and live the life they truely want.

What about NOW?

January 13th, 2009
Eddie the Cat

Eddie the Cat

Watching my cat Eddie chase his tail the other morning inspired this post.

Huh?

Well, there he was, sitting there, with his tail curled to the side twitching slightly…then pounce! And he’s flip over and then run in a circle. Then he would stop, curl his tail around him again and slightly twitch it, then start the chase again! Eddie did this several times, obviously enjoying his game. As I watched him I thought about how he was enjoying the moment, not worried, not scared, not upset. He was in the moment, in the “now”. That place where we try to be, but all to often the “now” consists of worrying about “later”, or agonizing over “earlier”.

It seems so easy to write or say, “Be happy in the moment, right now!” But so much harder to do. We did it as kids, I remember playing and just having a great time in that moment. Then something happens, as we get older we’re told “You’d better start thinking about the future…” and then the worry starts. What if I can’t get into college? What if I don’t get a good job?

What if..? What if..?

Then we get a job and…. “What if I don’t get a raise? ” “What if I get laid off?”

What if..? What if..?

And then we add to it….. “I remember when so-and-so said something to me I didn’t like.. I should have said/done….”

Should have…. Should have….
What if..? What if..?

So how do I enjoy the now? Well, one way to start getting into that habit is to find something little in the moment to stop and look at and say I’m enjoying this, or this makes me feel good. Here’s a simple little example from my experience. I like to make myself a glass of iced tea every day at work. When I get it all made and I’m at my desk, I’ll think, “This tastes good. I’m happy” In that moment, does it really matter that there was a lot of traffic that morning? Does it really benefit me to start worrying about things that haven’t happened yet? Why not just stop in the moment and appreciate it?

So what are you thinking about “Now”?

Thank you!

January 9th, 2009

I have to be honest, I’ve been having a rough time of it lately. I’ve been feeling down, you know, that battle of eliminating the old negative programming that just wants to hang on and replacing it with positive programming and the negative is trying to dominate. I asked the Universe for help in removing the negativity.

I received my first comment to my post about attracting the flat tire from Linda P. (You can read her comments under the “Did I attract This?” post). I went to her website(link under “Inspired Links”) and read about her new book, P.H.I.S.H.: Change your life. Learn the ten steps to feeling joy at all times. it’s just what I need right now!!! Yes the Universe does guide you if you allow it!

So I immediately went to Amazon and ordered it! I can’t wait to get it! Thank you so much Linda for your encouragement and for visiting my blog!
