What about NOW?
Eddie the Cat
Watching my cat Eddie chase his tail the other morning inspired this post.
Huh?
Well, there he was, sitting there, with his tail curled to the side twitching slightly…then pounce! And he’s flip over and then run in a circle. Then he would stop, curl his tail around him again and slightly twitch it, then start the chase again! Eddie did this several times, obviously enjoying his game. As I watched him I thought about how he was enjoying the moment, not worried, not scared, not upset. He was in the moment, in the “now”. That place where we try to be, but all to often the “now” consists of worrying about “later”, or agonizing over “earlier”.
It seems so easy to write or say, “Be happy in the moment, right now!” But so much harder to do. We did it as kids, I remember playing and just having a great time in that moment. Then something happens, as we get older we’re told “You’d better start thinking about the future…” and then the worry starts. What if I can’t get into college? What if I don’t get a good job?
What if..? What if..?
Then we get a job and…. “What if I don’t get a raise? ” “What if I get laid off?”
What if..? What if..?
And then we add to it….. “I remember when so-and-so said something to me I didn’t like.. I should have said/done….”
Should have…. Should have….
What if..? What if..?
So how do I enjoy the now? Well, one way to start getting into that habit is to find something little in the moment to stop and look at and say I’m enjoying this, or this makes me feel good. Here’s a simple little example from my experience. I like to make myself a glass of iced tea every day at work. When I get it all made and I’m at my desk, I’ll think, “This tastes good. I’m happy” In that moment, does it really matter that there was a lot of traffic that morning? Does it really benefit me to start worrying about things that haven’t happened yet? Why not just stop in the moment and appreciate it?
So what are you thinking about “Now”?

The book The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle is a great book to read. There is a step he has you do that proves by living in the moment, you just can’t worry and that helped me on my transformation of changing the way I thought! The universal order pad IS a great tool to use everyday!I bought some and everyone I gave it to loved in. See, it’s not any one great thing that has to be done but a lot of little things that can be done to change your life! If you go to the http://www.useyouruniverse.com site there is a journal that can be ordered that is great to write everything down! Write a letter to yourself, to God, to your angels or just what went on in your day. Writing is very theraputic.
A vision board was mentioned also in this blog and that is another great tool. Get a poster board and tape some colorful paper on it and then find pictures of all the things you want on it. I also took a Dream Manifesting workshop and wrote down everything I am grateful for that I have and want in my life and say it out loud everyday. The book The Secret is big on this! The universe doesn’t know what you don’t have so when you are grateful for something that you want, it will come to you. Also, by being grateful for everything that you have in your life, then more of what you love and enjoy will continue to come into your life!
Do you know what your passion is? When you are living it, you begin to live in the moment because the universe, God and the angels will help you to pursue it because that is why you are here on this earthly plane in this lifetime. I went to a workshop 2 years ago about this topic. The presenter said that this is the reason why people have midlife crisises because when they get into their 40s, their soul begins to communicate with them on what they are supposed to do. Also, if you are in a career where you are not very successful, you are not living your life purpose and when you find out what it is and have faith and trust, the money and success will follow. This may be all new to you and may be difficult to understand but think about how easy and effortless it is when you are doing something you LOVE! It doesn’t feel like a job. If you don’t know what your life purpose is, then ask “Allow me to see what I need to see”! and it will come to you, some sign, and you will figure it out. It is great when you are young and know what you are supposed to do but many have to experience certain events before they know what it is! I was a computer programmer for 18 years and I enjoyed it and it was the right job at the time but then it was not my life purpose to do it any longer. Then I became a Financial Advisor for 6 years and in changing careers I was able to host my own radio show which allowed me to meet many people and it helped in my next career as a published author. Divine Timing is everything and certain events cannot happen until everything else has fallen into place. How did I know that I would be great on the radio? I didn’t, but something inside of me told me to do it and it was the right decision. If I had said “No” then my life would have taken a different path. It still could have led me to do to what I am supposed to do but I don’t know. That is what free will is all about. We have the freedom to decide what are next steps in life are!
Take care,
Linda, I actually started reading The Power of Now, but got sidetracked and need to pull it out again. I did find what I read interesting, and in Joe Vitale’s Awakening Course, the last audio talks about being in the now. I think for me the challenge is being in the now is balancing all the external factors that try and force me out of the now, like bill paying, work assignment due dates etc.
Another idea for a vision board, if you work at a computer all day, is may a graphic that has images of all the things you want to manifest and then make it your computer background!
That’s funny about the mid life crisis - I think I may have a bit of that, I’m pretty convinced that my life’s purpose doesn’t involve sitting in a cubicle all day! Seriously though, I find that to be the toughest question, knowing what my passion is…I do know that I like to work with computers, but there has to be more than that…. I guess what I’m saying is I don’t know how to answer that for myself. Which would explain my current frustrations! Maybe I just need to ask, what is my purpose? what am I meant to do? I would love to find out what it is and then begin to make it happen!
You are so right that we can and do tend to look at the “worst case scenario”. But when someone “What If Ups” they open themselves up to unlimited possibilities. So many people have shared the miracles that have come from the frequent use of What if Upping in their life. We hope you will keep in touch as the book is coming soon.
